OCS Proudly Supports – The Boys and Girls Clubs

One of the reasons that we started blogging is that we wanted to make sure that the members of our community knew more a little more about the charities their contributions support.  One that we are very proud to donate to is The Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

The Panel for Promotion of Children’s Health once said “Children are one third of our population but all of our future.” One of the most well-known charities that we have supported is the Boys and Girls Club. Many people know about the Boys and Girls club because you’ve either went there, volunteered or even have a child who spends some time there.

The Royal Oak Club was founded in 1958 and the club has been focused on making a difference in lives of youth for 57 years. They serve youth ages 6-18 by providing an array of programs and services designed to help them reach their full potential. Their mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. They offer many life-enhancing programs such as Character and Leadership, The Arts, Health and Life Skills, Sports and Fitness and Education and Careers.

They are open after school and during the day during the summer months. The club provides the perfect destination for single and working parents. The Boys and Girls Club tries to stay in touch with all former members of the club. In doing so, they’ve found that 51% of alumni achieved a higher level of education than they ever thought possible and 57% of alumni said that the club has changed their life. This specific branch is ran by  120 volunteers annually, so if you’d like help out please go to www.boysandgirlsclub.us and either donate, pledge, volunteer or help with events.
